How to Zip and Unzip Files on a Chromebook.

Chromebooks are no slouch and can perform jobs as well as Windows and Mac computers. One such task that most people perform regularly is zipping and unzipping files.

On a Chromebook, here’s how to compress and unzip files.

  • From the app menu, launch the files app.
  • Navigate to the location of the files you wish to compress.
  • Click on a file to include in the zip file, then hold down the “Ctrl” key and choose the remaining files to zip.
  • After that, hit the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the Files app.
  • Finally, click Zip selection to combine all of the selected files into a single zip file.

Chrome OS does not include Windows or macOS-style shortcuts for extracting all files from a zip folder. Instead, you must manually unzip it. Here’s how to go about it.
