Meta Has Paused Hiring For Different Departments As They Failed To Reach Their Revenue Targets

Meta has apparently put a hold on hiring for a number of positions across several products.

According to a fresh source, the firm has chosen to put a hiring freeze in place for certain engineering positions, recruiters, and low-level data scientists. Meta has halted hiring for various areas after failing to meet sales projections, according to recent reports. While the impact was felt immediately by Meta’s engineering staff, an internal memo indicated that the business is modifying its hiring plans in other departments.

A report by The Verge states that Meta is pulling back its investments in a number of products, including teams that it created to compete against the likes of Zoom. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in an all-hands meeting, said that the company does not plan to lay off employees for the time being.

“I can’t sit here and make a permanent ongoing promise that as things shift that we won’t have to reconsider that. But what I can tell you is that as of where we sit today, our expectation is not that we’re going to have to do that. And instead, basically what we’re doing is we’re dialling growth to the levels that we think are going to be manageable over time,” Zuckerberg said.

Senior executives at the corporation have begun informing individual teams that they would not be allowed to hire new engineers.

Internal transfers will also be unavailable to employees. According to the assessment, many new goods that were introduced at the outset of the epidemic would be affected. The Remote Presence Team, for example, was formed to develop audio and video features to compete with Zoom. Facebook Dating and Gaming, Messenger Kids, the Commerce team, and others have been disrupted.

Meta has also instructed its Reality Labs team, which was built solely to build Zuckerberg’s ambitious Metaverse, that certain projects will be prioritized over others. Miranda Kalinowski, Facebook’s global head of recruiting, previously stated that once the firm begins planning for the second half of the year, the company will reveal a more specific plan for teams other than its engineering department.
