Copia global set to launch a state of the art fulfilment centre in Uganda

Copia Global has announced plans to establish a State of the Art fulfilment centre in Uganda. the centre which will be constructed in Namnave will host major data centres including the Government-owned tier-3 data centre that was commissioned by the Ugandan president in 2019.

A move that will improve the lives of Ugandan consumers and put them on the map of global digitization.

Already, Copia boasts of a network of over 38,000 agents and small shopkeepers who serve as order and delivery points across Kenya and Uganda. Copia Global launched its operations in Uganda in May 2021 and since then has served over 35,000 customers and fulfilled over 250,000 orders in its one-year period of operations. The team has also grown from 20 to over 200 employees, enabling the company to contribute to the local economy in Uganda.

Speaking during Copia’s first anniversary celebrations in Uganda, Copia Global CEO Tim Steel said, We are thrilled about the success of Copia’s expansion into Uganda, which is our first market expansion since launching in Kenya in 2013.” “This is a testimony of Copia’s proven business model and its Pan-African scalability.” He further adds that “With the impressive milestones achieved in Uganda in the last year, we are now ready to further expand into other African markets, providing essential and quality products to Africa’s 750 million middle to low-income consumers.”

The fulfilment centre will add to Copia’s expansion strategy to expand to major markets across the continent. In the country, Copia operates on its own technology-enabled world-class logistics service, Copia can deliver to the most remote locations, even in places with poor road infrastructure or lack of addresses, at no additional cost to the customer within 2 to 4 days.

Early this year, Copia secured $50 million in a Series C equity stake to help it accelerate its expansion across East Africa and the rest of Africa. Copia plans to use the funds to expand its successful model across East Africa and into other African countries, reaching millions of underserved people.
