Ferrari gears up to produce its first all electric vehicles

Following the success of hybrid sport cars from Ferrari such as the SF90 Stradale, the company had been making moves to produce its first fully electric vehicle.

Despite not having any all electric vehicles in its line up, Ferrari had a company record of 11,155 vehicles sold in 2021. However, none of them can reach the heights achieved by their electric competitors in terms of acceleration and power such as the Bugatti-Rimac Nevera with sprint speeds of 0-100km in 1.85 seconds.

In order to remain competitive, Ferrari js expanding its Maranello plant in Italy. This expansion includes a third production line specifically for electrified vehicles and a battery R&D facility. More details will be released in June 16th during a capital markets day. Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari’s new CEO will present the strategy and lay out the company’s plans for the next four years.

Vigna, who was appointed last year, saw the company transition away from 12-cylinder engines towards electrification. The Italian automaker is set to launch its first all-electric car in 2025.
