WhatsApp Group Calls Now Have Selectable Muting, Banner Notifications, And More

To improve its chat, phone, and video calling capabilities, WhatsApp is introducing new features to the platform. Three new capabilities have been added to group calls by WhatsApp in its most recent release. Users may now message and mute certain callers thanks to the new group call capabilities, which also let them see who has joined the call. Here is a detailed explanation of the new features.

Banner Notifications

WhatsApp will now let users in a group call know when someone has joined the group call mid-way. This will be done via a banner notification that will pop up on the screen of the existing participants saying “XYZ has joined the call.”

As just a few people will be seen on the screen at once, this is a useful function, especially when you’re on a group call with several people. Even though their addition is not immediately evident on-screen, the banner notice will let you know when new callers have joined.

Muting select users

With the use of this new function, members of a WhatsApp group call may now selectively muffle other callers. This is useful if you just want to listen to one side at a time and you also want to block out any distracting sounds from other users.

Selective muting will also make it simpler for users to participate in a group call when one or more participants are trapped in a loud area and are unable to mute themselves or end the conversation for whatever reason.

Messaging participants directly

In a group call, WhatsApp users may now privately message one another to rapidly pass along pertinent instructions or information without interfering with the conversation’s flow or context.

Users may now rapidly message only one person in a WhatsApp group call without letting the others know, and they won’t lose out on the discourse in the call.
