Solarise Africa Strengthens Team With Key Staff Appointments

Solarise Africa, a pan-African Energy-as-a-Service company, has strengthened its team with seven key appointments in recent months to support their accelerated growth strategy.

“In order to provide affordable and reliable renewable energy for business in Africa and help drive Africa’s progress, we make sure to build our team with passionate people,” said Jan Albert Valk, CEO and Co-Founder at Solarise Africa. “Our new team members bring a wealth of experience that will enable us to offer our services at an even greater scale as we continue to accelerate our growth strategy.”

“We now have an extremely talented team of 24 employees from 12 nationalities fluent in 30 languages working from six locations. These seven hires join a team with extensive renewable energy experience on the continent that prides itself on finding innovative approaches, new ideas and concepts to deal with change and boast the flexibility to respond to the unexpected.”

Appointments to accelerate business development

Chris Bailey (B.Com. Marketing) is appointed as Business Development Manager in the South Africa’s Western Cape region and brings six years of C&I and renewable energy experience to the team.

Lydia Mugeni (B.Tech. Business Administration) boasts seven years solar energy experience and joins the team as Business Development Manager in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Enhancing project delivery with key engineering hires

Kene Emechebe (B. Eng. & Post Graduate Degree Electrical and Electronics Engineering) will head up Solar Engineering across all regions and adds his seven years of C&I solar experience to the team. Noluvuyo Mswewu (B.Tech. Electrical Engineering (Power)) is appointed as Electrical Engineer and brings six years of mining and renewable energy experience

Strengthening operational efficiency

Tharunraj Jayaraj (MBA) is appointed as Project Manager to oversee projects and improve efficiencies of processes and systems for scale

Fidel Phiri (B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering) has 16 years’ experience, eight of which he specialised in PV solar and joins the team as Asset Manager.

Advancing products and markets

Carolyn Kinuthia (CFA Level III candidate) joins the team as Products & Markets Analyst with her ten years of experience in East Africa. “We are also proud of the fact that 80% of our recent hires have been female. Solarise Africa is committed to gender diversity and look forward to creating more employment opportunities for women in the renewable energy sector,” Valk concluded.
