Huawei refreshes its ultraportable with a new Matebook D16

Huawei’s Matebook 16 series is back in the limelight after the successful debut of the MateBook 16 a few weeks ago, with the Matebook 16S and D16 taking centre stage. However, although the original laptop still uses a Ryzen CPU, its siblings are switching to Intel’s Alder Lake mobile chips, leaving AMD behind.

The Matebook D16 cru 2022, which is less expensive than the 16S, provides at most the Core i7-12700H. The other two suggested references are the dual 12-core, 16-thread Intel Core i5-12500H and i5-12450H processors. Huawei has set up the CPUs with a 40 W TDP.

The MateBook D16 of 2021 uses an AMD CPU, the Ryzen 5 4600H with 6 cores and 12 threads, making this a major move. The screen is the other significant modification. Still, it has a 16-inch IPS display. However, it does so in a 16:10 format rather than the 16:9 of the PC’s prior version.

As a result, the definition rises from 1,920 by 1,080 to 1,920 by 1,200 pixels, or a resolution that is somewhat greater than 142 PPI compared to 137 PPI.

There are still a few minor modifications for the rest. The chassis has slightly different dimensions, measuring 356.7 mm in width, 248.7 mm in depth, and 18.4 mm in height. For the 2021 version, these measurements were 369 mm, 234 mm, and 18.4 mm. The mass is still 1.7 kg.

If we depend on the specs listed on the brand’s website, the successor inherits 8 or 16 GB of memory, while Huawei sold the MateBook D16 2021 with 16 GB DDR4. Status quo for storage, using a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Finally, the battery’s capacity has changed from 56 Wh to 60 Wh. The 65 W block charger is still in use. It’s also important to notice the inclusion of two more microphones, bringing the total to four.
