Kenyan female lawmakers have started an anti-online harassment campaign.

Women MPs have started a campaign to assist stop online abuse and harassment of female politicians as the run-up to the August 9th general elections in Kenya approaches the home stretch.

The women are employing brief video advertisements through their caucus, the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KeWoPa), to educate the public about problems that have been prevalent, particularly during election season. Kenyan women lawmakers have started a campaign to stop online abuse and harassment of female politicians as the countdown to Kenya’s general elections on August 9th approaches its final stages.

The brief video campaign has recordings of a number of prominent female politicians and leaders serving the country in various positions. They consist of Prof. Margaret Kobia, the CS for Senior Citizen Affairs, Gender, Public Service, and Special Programs; HE The DP William Ruto’s spouse Rachel Ruto, HE Anne Waiguru, the governor of Kirinyaga County, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, the women’s representative for Kiambu County and chairperson of KeWoPa, and Hon. Martha Karua, the leader of the NARC Kenya Party and the DP nominee of the Azimio Coalition are all present.
