Pimp My Ride show is back, airing only on YouTube

Pimp My Ride was one of the television shows that established our love for automobiles. The show focused on restoring and customizing vehicles. From 2004 until 2007, rapper Xzibit hosted the original Pimp My Ride in the United States. There was also a UK version that lasted six seasons. Its this UK version that is making a comeback, with rapper Lady Leshurr being the host.

The new Pimp My Ride in the UK will be a six-part series brought by a partnership between MTV and eBay, the biggest online marketplace for car parts and accessories in that country.

West Coast Customs performed restorations and modifications for the original US show, which was later replaced by Galpin Auto Sports in season 5. However, Wrench Studios, a one-stop vehicle shop in Surrey, South East England, will handle the aftermarket restoration and transformation jobs on the reviewed show.

According to the release, Pimp My Ride UK “will include everything from a restored 1966 Volkswagen Beetle to a Fast & Furious-inspired 1992 Mitsubishi GTO. Viewers will see classic restorations completed alongside extreme modifications, featuring trademark Pimp My Ride sound systems and screens.”

The relaunched show will also shine a light on the costs and environmental benefits of purchasing used “green” parts from eBay’s Certified Recycled Hub.
