At Long Last, Instagram Will Allow You To Upload 60-Second Movies As Stories

Instagram is getting ready to launch a new feature that allows for longer, uninterrupted IG Stories uploads.

With the new functionality, users may share 60-second Stories on a single slide. Instagram users are not now able to upload multiple longer story videos at once. It divides the video into 15-second mini-clips as an alternative. A Meta spokesman acknowledged the new upgrade to Instagram stories in a TechCrunch article. “Now, you’ll be able to play and create Stories continuously for up to 60 seconds, instead of being automatically cut into 15-second clips,” says the spokesperson.

To compete with the short-form video app TikTok, Instagram is adding new features to keep the app interesting and participatory.

Creators that want to continuously upload new video material will benefit from the new upgrade. Viewers who frequently have to tap to see the entire video would also find it useful. Users’ Story trays might also get cleaned up with its aid. Since they would have to wait longer to view the entire video, it would not be a good idea for everyone. There isn’t a way to change the playback speed for Instagram Stories (yet).

Reels and other forms on the network are becoming less distinct on the Meta-owned social media. As an illustration, video posts are now posted as Reels. The length of the Reels was recently extended from 60 to 90 seconds by the corporation. Additionally testing a new Story layout with this is the app’s development team. The new function will conceal overly long posts. Users are now allowed to post up to 100 tales. The number of shared stories will remain unchanged after the upgrade, but viewers will now see a “Show All” button to view all of the Stories.

The changes are not wholly unexpected because Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri previously disclosed the company’s intentions to modify the algorithm to increase the visibility of video content. Instagram may prioritize making Reels and short videos the main emphasis of its content in order to give them more of a priority.
