6 Things Your Company Site Needs

We all know that having a business website is essential. However, simply having one is only half of the battle won. In order for your site to actually perform the function you want it to, there are a few particular things it needs.

Here are six business website non-negotiables.

Visual Appeal

We all know that it’s what’s on the inside that truly matters. However, we also live within a generation that eats with their eyes, so to speak.

What we mean is – aesthetics are important. A website that looks amateurish or bland isn’t going to grab anyone’s attention. Make sure your design is up to standard. Create an online banner design to include at the top of your homepage and ensure that the layout and colour scheme look good.

Easy Navigation

User-friendliness is another key element to consider. The psychology side of things states that for most people, if it takes too long (or too much effort) to find the page on your website they’re looking for, they’re more likely to simply get bored and exit.

This makes it absolutely crucial to ensure your website is easy to navigate. Try to make sure your menu is easy to understand and make it quick and simply (one or two clicks) to reach a destination.

Calls to Action

The very first page of your website should include some form of call to action (CTA). This means you should be prompting your audience to do something. This might be to sign up for email newsletters, to click on a sale or promotion or simply explore your site further.

Make sure you use attention-grabbing and incentivising language to prompt action.

Who You Are

There are a few things you need to do to create a unique website that matches your business, and one of those things is to describe exactly who you are as a company.

Whether you include these details in your ‘About’ page, or simply on your homepage, you need to explain what your business is, where it came from, and what it offers. You might also introduce yourself as an owner as well as the rest of your team. This is especially beneficial for a small business, because personal details make all the difference and customers like to put a face to the name.

Contact Details

If customers are clicking on your site, chances are, they might want to get in touch for something or other.

Make sure your website stipulates all the important details: email address, telephone number, physical address and operating hours too. If there is any other relevant information, put it out there clearly.

Reviews or Testimonials

Finally, having testimonials on your website matters more than you might think. Especially for start-ups or smaller businesses, it’s important to build trust with your audience and testimonials are a great way to achieve that.

Showing that other (real) people have worked with and loved your company shows that you’re for real, trustworthy and as good as you claim to be.
