Neal Mohan, chief product officer at YouTube, recently shared some of the upcoming design updates and feature additions to the app.
The way consumers watch videos should be significantly improved with the launch of a new YouTube appearance, which will be available starting today on all devices, including mobile and the web. A more immersive watching experience for YouTube subscribers is what the majority of the aesthetic changes introduced this week are aimed at providing. The ambient mode, which YouTube has been experimenting with, which uses new hues, is also a part of the design revisions.
The app’s backdrop changes colour to match the movie as a result of the subtle effect added by ambient mode. The viewing experience is significantly improved by a subtle change. Additionally, YouTube acknowledged that they altered the dark theme to be even darker so the colours stand out on the screen.
The latter will be rolled out across the web, mobile, and smart TVs, with the ambient mode being available on the web and mobile in a dark theme. While we’re on the subject, it’s important to note that video playlists will now utilize the same colour changes and display additional information about each playlist.
The video player now has additional improvements. To start, YouTube URLs in video descriptions will be converted to buttons, and actions like “like,” “share,” and “download” have been designed to minimize distractions.
In addition, to make it more noticeable, the subscribe button is also being redesigned. It’s now possible for everyone to use a number of new features that have been under testing since the year’s beginning. Two of the capabilities that are accessible to all YouTube users as of right now are pinch-to-zoom and precision finding.
The former allows users to easily zoom in and out of a video while on their iOS or Android phone.
