After letting go of about two-thirds of its 7,500-person workforce in the previous month, Twitter is apparently preparing to start hiring once more.
Following Elon Musk’s formal takeover of the business in late October, the first round of layoffs occurred the first week after that. Subsequently, more employees were let go in the following weeks. Until Musk gave the remaining staff members an ultimatum to follow new, more stringent work regulations or quit last week. Nearly 1,000 Twitter staff members resigned collectively as a result.
The company is no longer planning layoffs, Musk reportedly informed staff on Monday, adding the company is “actively recruiting for openings in engineering and sales, and that employees are encouraged to make references.” Notably, Monday was supposed to be the day when Twitter fired staffers from the sales division.
According to the story, Musk omitted to mention the specific engineering positions that Twitter is seeking, and the business has not yet made job advertisements available.
Musk remarked throughout the discussion: “In terms of critical hires, I would say people who are great at writing software are the highest priority”.
In addition, Musk made it clear that, unlike with Tesla, there are no plans to move Twitter’s headquarters from San Francisco to Texas during the all-hands meeting on Monday. He reportedly did not rule out the possibility of having two headquarters, one of which might be in Texas since that state has much lower federal taxes than California. According to the report, Musk admitted that the restructuring of Twitter would “have a lot of mistakes,” but the business will “stabilise over time.”
