Porsche presents the new Cayenne with lots of premium features made standard

Porsche revealed the updated 2024 Cayenne at the 2023 Shanghai auto show. The SUV is planned to hit showrooms later this year.

Porsche claims that more standard features have been added such as Matrix LED headlights, adjustable dampers, 20-inch wheels (22 inches on the Cayenne Turbo GT), keyless entry, a wireless charging pad for smartphones, and a variety of automated driver-assist technologies.

The new matrix LED headlights have a fresh design and give additional illumination. The taillights, as well as the front and rear fascias, have been updated. New colors and wheel patterns (Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Gray) have also been added.

Inside, the SUV features a fully digital dashboard akin to the Taycan electric car. The latest model’s analog gauges have been replaced by a 12.7-inch digital instrument cluster. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen is standard, with an optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger. The passenger screen is capable of streaming content and has a specific overlay that prohibits the driver from watching it. The gear shifter has also been relocated from the center console to the dash, where it now sits next to the steering wheel.

The engines choices start with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that has seen its output increase by 13 hp to a new total of 348 hp. This engine is also utilized in the E-Hybrid plug-in hybrid, where it is supplemented by a more powerful electric motor, increasing combined peak output to 463 hp. A 25.9-kwh battery has also been installed in place of the previous 17.9-kwh unit, implying an improvement in electric range, though Porsche has not offered an EPA estimate.

The S model’s previous V-6 has been replaced by a twin-turbo V-8 rated at 468 hp, or 34 hp more than previously. The output of the V-8 in the Turbo GT version (Cayenne Coupe only) is increased by 31 horsepower to 650 hp. It means the Turbo GT will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 189 mph.

Porsche also confirmed starting prices of $80,850 and $85,950, respectively. Both figures include a $1,650 destination charge. For comparison, The 2023 Cayenne was priced from about $73,000 but had much fewer standard features compared to this new model.  The 2024 Cayenne range is currently available to order. Deliveries are expected to start in the summer.
