A motor vehicle search is important especially when it comes to buying or selling cars and in the case of filing insurance for your car. Fortunately, you may undertake an NTSA Online Logbook Search for Motor Vehicles (TIMS) through the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS), an online platform established by the NTSA (National Transport and Safety Authority). When the NTSA TIMS was first introduced in late 2016, it was exclusively accessible to auto dealerships.
Both the seller and the buyer must have accounts on the NTSA portal to transfer a motor vehicle.
To get the vehicle registration details and confirm the ownership of the vehicle, simply follow these simple steps:
- Visit https://timsvirl.ntsa.go.ke/, the National Transport Safety Authority’s (NTSA) TIMS, and log in.
- On the left side of the webpage, choose “Online Search.”
- In the “Registration Number” text field Enter the license plate number of the car without spaces, such as KAA567A.
- When you click the “ENQUIRE” button, the registration of the car will show up in the list.
- To choose the car, click on it; once selected, a black checkmark will appear.
- Click “NEXT” to view the payable amount.
- To proceed with the transaction, click “NEXT”.
- To download the necessary registration details, choose your payment option and adhere to the website’s instructions.
