Apple has launched an upgraded version of its Vision Pro headset powered by the new M5 chip, delivering faster performance, sharper visuals, and extended battery life. The refreshed model also debuts a Dual Knit Band for improved comfort and ships with visionOS 26, introducing new spatial experiences and Apple Intelligence features.
According to Apple, the M5 chip brings up to 2× faster AI performance and 10 percent more display pixels, offering smoother multitasking, faster app loading, and enhanced graphics for immersive games like Control. The new 10-core CPU and GPU architectures include hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading, while the upgraded R1 chip handles real-time environmental rendering within just 12 milliseconds. Battery life now stretches to 2.5 hours of general use or 3 hours of video playback.
The Dual Knit Band, designed as a single 3D-knitted piece with adjustable tension and improved breathability, enhances comfort for extended use. It will also be sold separately for $99 (U.S.) and remains compatible with the first-generation Vision Pro.
Running visionOS 26, the new Vision Pro supports widgets, advanced Personas for FaceTime, interactive spatial photos, and expanded Apple Immersive content. Over one million apps are now compatible, including 3,000+ apps built specifically for visionOS, spanning design, gaming, entertainment, and enterprise solutions.
Apple has also partnered with major content creators — including the BBC, Red Bull, and the Audi F1 Project — to deliver new 3D and immersive video experiences. Users will soon be able to stream select NBA games and spatial films through the Apple TV app.
The Vision Pro with M5 chip and Dual Knit Band starts at $3,499 (U.S.), available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB models. Pre-orders opened today in major global markets, with retail availability beginning October 22.
Apple maintains its Apple 2030 commitment by using 100% recycled aluminum and rare-earth materials in the device’s construction.
