For many centuries, women were undermined and thought as weak. At some point girls did not have the liberty to education and when they did, they were told they could only pursue the arts while the sciences and technology were for the men. This is why a day was set aside to celebrate women that are in science while appreciating role models that managed to propel through this career that was not appropriate for women. Ada Lovelace is a great example, during her time she was schooled in science and Mathematics unlike majority of the girls in her time, which was around the 18th century. She is proof that if girls had the freedom to pursue what they actually wanted in various fields, they would have achieved much more than we could fathom. Because of her education she managed to be the first computer programmer.
