CEO Weekends: DerevaBuddy Comes On Android to Help Masses Beat Nairobi Traffic

derevabyddyWe met the guys behind DereveBuddy a year ago and they told us they just want to end the menace that traffic is in Nairobi due to the lack of information sharing between road users on which are busy and which ones are not.

The map-based app uses Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) devices to crowd source map coordinates, device speed and direction and then sent this information to a web server whereby they are processed and saved on a database then the results are reflected on the app in real time with specific colors i.e Red = Heavy Traffic , Purple = Moderate Traffic, Green = Light Traffic.

This aims to help road users report incidents on the roads in- app to warn other motorists or tweet about the situation to inform users of the traffic condition.

Now, the guys say DerevaBuddy for Android makes things even easier to help reach out to more users and help them report incidents on the roads from within the app by taking a picture and pinning them on the map to warn other motorists.

Also tweets talking about traffic can be accessed from the app. Unlike others that are textual in nature, Derevabuddy is visual. That’s why its the best in its category. Freely available on Google Play Store DerevaBuddyApp is taking on Ma3Route and several other crowdsourcing apps in the country.

It’s Map-Based traffic results colored differently aim to help motorists easily understand the current situation minus turing to Twitter and as well help them report any accident or incident on the road by taking a picture and uploading it to notify others.
