Websimba, the parent firm of restaurant guide and listing service EatOut present in East Africa and Mauritius has recently bought out Done Deal Uganda and rebranded it to EatOut Uganda and also bought out the Pearl Guide in Uganda and EatinKigali in Rwanda to bolster its East African presence.

EatOut now aims to beef up its Tanzania operation with an acquisition which we’ll  report about later. Backed to the tune of $200,000 from African Media Ventures and revenue postive, this is the best time for the firm to expand as pan-Africa players consolidate on the markets they see attractive. The formation of Ringier Africa Deals Group and the formation today of Ringier One Africa Media Group is a good sign for any player in this digital media/ classifieds/ deals space to even build harder and become continentally competititive.

Expanding to East Africa was EatOut’s original masterplan which took longer and came at such a time as this. The 2009 launched firm has quickly established a strong online presence as Nairobi’s favorite restaurant guide and booking service even becoming more popular than Rocket Internet’s food ordering and delivery service Hellofood..

With over 100,000 monthly page views and counting,  EatOut aims to revolutinize the region’s culinary industry using its restaurant guides as well as the Taste Awards and the Yummy Magazine.
