Huawei Surpasses Apple to Grab Number Two Spot Globally

 Huawei overtook Apple in second quarter of 2018 to become number two smartphone vendor globally for the first time, just behind mobile giant Samsung Electronics according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

Huawei earned 15.8 per cent market ahead of Apple at 12.1 per cent with shipments of 54.2 million units and a record high market share of 15.8%. Huawei has recorded 41% year-on-year growth leaping ahead of the other two brands globally during the same period last year.

Huawei is leading the innovation space in the smartphone industry.  It is important to highlight that the company is the 6th biggest spender in R&D globally, with $45 billion spent over the last 10 years and a whopping $12 billion last year only.

The company introduced another 4G model above 100USD in the market named Y5 Prime 2018 as part of the company’s efforts to deliver quality budget friendly model in Kenya. Huawei launched its budget friendly smartphone Y5 Prime 2018, that has 2G RAM+ 16G ROM, 13MP rear camera and 4G LTE, is designed especially for the young generations who are looking for faster experience, a chic big screen and more value. The latest device in the market has attracted a strong demand from consumers within a month of its launch.
