Kenya’s electoral body may adopt blockchain in upcoming 2022 Elections

Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that it’s intention to implement blockchain technology in the country’s next presidential elections in a bid to try to redeem itself following accusations of vote rigging in the last polls in 2017.

The Commission has formed a task force to guide the reform process that will see the adoption of blockchain – the technology at the heart of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

“The legal reform activity is at the preliminary stages and the Commission will be conducting stakeholder engagements, including incorporating views …… The priority areas for legal reform identified by the Commission include; Electoral technology – adoption of blockchain technology/distributed ledgers to enable presidential candidates securely access results real-time, enhancing transparency and alleviating suspicion/perceptions of opacity” IEBC said in a statement.

Using blockchain in the 2022 elections will make the polls a lot safer while enabling voters to solidify their ballots on the net. Blockchain would ascertain complete trust and self-confidence among the voters as the dispersed ledger technological know-how depends on a network of nodes that frequently synchronize information earning hacking and breach of safety pretty much not possible.
