Surf, an Internet Service Provider that allows users in Kenya to access and subscribe to affordable internet services has partnered with Facebook to launch Express Wi-Fi in Kenya.
Surf is a product of Boelist Investments in partnership with Access Kenya to offer affordable, high-speed internet available for purchase where Surfspot hotspots have been installed. Express Wi-Fi by Facebook is now available majorly in Nairobi.
Users may purchase bundles through the Surfspot site or Authorized Agents. The data bundle plans can be used on wifi enabled devices such as mobile smartphones, tablets, computers and can be purchased for daily, weekly or monthly use.
Surfspot Data bundles can also be be purchased using M-Pesa via  Lipa Na M-Pesa Till # 199265.There are no M-Pesa surcharges in addition to the published plan rates.

“With Express Wifi, we’re working with carriers, internet service providers, and local entrepreneurs to help expand connectivity to underserved locations around the world,” announced Facebook.

The firm says Express Wifi empowers local entrepreneurs to help provide quality internet access to their neighbors and make a steady income.  They’re able to also use software provided by Facebook to connect their communities.

After purchasing the affordable internet packages, users are able to explore the range of information it has to offer via Free Basics including news, education, health, job postings, entertainment, and communication tools like Facebook.

Express Wi-Fi is now in Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria after launching in India late last year.
