Intel has launched an Education Accelerator to help developers passionate about education, technology, and business to come up with solutions that aim to advance educational excellence through mentorship, funding, and insights.
Through its investment arm, Intel Capital, and its education arm Intel Education, the firm is set to invest up to $100,000 into companies that come up with brilliant edtech startups. The startups will receive $50,000 up front for up to six percent in common stock, and an additional $50,000 in a convertible note at the end of the program.
Located at GSVlabs in Silicon Valley, the education accelerator program is open to startups globally and has huge networks of education technology decision makers and partners who are accessible to startups.Intel Education has also worked with more than fifteen million teachers globally and startups will as well be allowed to collaborate with senior-level industry leaders across technology, business, and education for mentorships that move their businesses forward faster.
Some of the big shots ready to help at the Intel Education Accelerator Program include Tom Kalinske, Chairman, Education Learning; Former CEO of Leap Frog, Knowledge Universe, Sega, Matchbox, and Mattel.
