Bharti Airtel Malawi has its license renewed by Malawi telecoms regulator and will serve the country for the next 10 years.
This telecommunication company was granted an operating license 15 years ago, this is even before it was bought by the current owners.
In accepting the license renewal, the mobile network has pledged a $42 million network upgrade this year and will also expand its network coverage. A planned deployment of a 4G based service was also confirmed.
Airtel Malawi started its operations in October 1999 as Celtel Malawi, which was sold to Kuwait’s Zain in 2009 and later to India’s Bharti Airtel.
