Nokia Halts Sales Of Lumia 2520 Tablet Over Electric Shock Fears.

Mobile manufacturer Nokia has suspended sales of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet following fears that the charger could give users an electric shock.

The quality issue has forced the company to put up caution over the use of the AC-300 charger until further notice. Phone-fanciers say 3,000 tablets are affected but there have been no confirmed consumer incidents reported yet.

The effect has however been said to be caused by certain AC-300 chargers which are manufactured by a third-party supplier since the charger is used for the 2520 slate so other Nokia phones and chargers are fine.

Nokia warns the plastic cover of the charger’s exchangeable plug could come loose and separate having internal components pose a hazard of an electric shock if touched while the plug is in live socket.

Since it is the only charger recommended for the tablet, which might have the tablet virtually useless. “We apologise to the owners of Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience” said Nokia in a statement.

The sales of the Lumia 2520 device including the charger have been temporarily delayed in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and UK.
