TomTom Powers MapQuest’s Core Map Data with New Partnership

MapQuest, an AOL Inc owned online web mapping service has today partnered with Navigation and mapping products maker, TomTom (TOM2) to allow MapQuest users access to TomTom’s extensive digital map database for web and iOS and Android apps.

TomTom (TOM2) will power MapQuest‘s core mapping services for its over 40 million customers.

“We are delighted to enhance the digital mapping network of MapQuest with this partnership,” commented Charles Cautley, Managing Director of TomTom Licensing. “Having access to the most accurate mapping technology ensures that millions of people can make smarter decisions on every journey.”

Also commenting on the deal, Brian McMahon, general manager, MapQuest said, “Every day, millions of people depend on MapQuest for maps and driving directions to find their way. By extending TomTom’s mapping expertise across our platforms globally, we are continuing our commitment to provide MapQuest users with a best-in-breed mapping experience.”

Founded in 1991 and present in over 30 countries, TomTom also creates GPS Sport Watches, as well as state-of-the-art fleet management solutions and industry leading location based products.
