Nigerian consumers are increasingly embracing Internet as next revolution – Spectranet

David Venn, Managing Director of Spectranet, has said that consumers in Nigeria are increasingly embracing the Internet as the next revolution in gaining access to information and entertainment.

According to him, most people use the internet to deepen social relationships; as an alternative to traditional means of communication and or directly making their voice heard in public debates.

“For instance, in Nigeria, customers use our services not only to access their emails and browse the Internet, but also to communicate via Facebook,Twitter and Skype, to watch videos on YouTube, play multi-player games across the world or to watch full feature movies. Families are using broadband service to do this every day and the Internet is fast becoming an essential part of modern family life.”

Referencing the recently held general elections in Nigeria, he said: “We were all witnesses to the impact that the Internet played. For Nigeria it heralded a new era in information dissemination and engagement process as well as advertising. The 2015 elections proved, without doubt, that social media can no longer be excluded from political campaigns.
