LEAK: Galaxy A 2018, Samsung makes Infinity Display affordable and fingerprint under the camera

If you have been keeping up with Samsung’s 2017 flagships, the common issue with all of them was the placement of the fingerprint reader. Having it on the horizontal place next to the camera made it not only inaccessible but also kept smudging the lens. It seems the company has heard the cry of the people and has taken action in the next iteration of Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy A occupies the upper midrange sector, for people for want the premium features found on the flagship S and Note line without spending a fortune. Samsung will be bringing the fingerprint at the back, right under the camera, a location that has been tried and tested by manufacturers like Huawei and LG with great success.

You might be wondering why the fingerprint reader wasn’t left on the front facing home buttons like other Galaxy A series phone thus far, well it’s because Samsung is incorporating the highly coveted full screen Infinity Display found on the S8 and Note 8. Finally, people with a tight budget will be able to enjoy this high end display. It is likely that the display will not be curved but I don’t think anyone will complain. It means that the phones will be physically smaller and more compact while incorporating bigger or same screen sizes.

The bixby button will also see its debut outside of the flagship models. Pressing on the button takes you directly to Bixby assistant regardless of what you were doing on-screen. It helps users to make quick web searches, schedule reminders, alarms, take voice notes etc, all in a press of a button. Samsung recently added the ability for users to disable the key at will and instead use “Hello Bixby” phrase.

There was word that the A series will use a new Exynos 7885, 14nm processor that applies the powerful Cortex A73 cores in a hexa-core setup, that is, two high performance A73 and four energy efficient A53 cores.

We hope the inclusion of these features will not hike the price of the Galaxy A series, like we saw on the S8 and Note 8.
