Africa Rising Celebrates “100 Years of Mandela”

Africa Rising Foundation, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Museum, House of Mandela, ICV and World Youth Foundation announces the launch of its celebratory activities in honor of the 100th centenary of Nelson Mandela. History shows a devoted champion for peace and social justice in his own nation and around the world.

The “100 Years of Mandela Gala” that will take place on July 7, 2018 at the Monte Casino Ballroom, Monte Casino Complex, in Fourways, Johannesburg at 7:00P.M. Proceeds from the event benefit the Mandela Centennial Leadership Program.

Co-Led by Ndaba Mandela and Teddy Warria, The Mandela Centennial Leaders Program (MCLP) is a landmark merit-based leadership program that will mark the 100th birthday of one of the greatest world leaders of the last century by recruiting, equipping, developing and cultivating the next 100 Mandela’s.

Why does this matter? Every year for the next three decades, 15-20 million increasingly well-educated young people are expected to join the African workforce. Employers across the region identify skills gaps as a major constraint to their ability compete in the global economy. In South Africa alone, 39% core skills required across all core skills will be wholly different jobs by 2020, while 41% of jobs in South Africa are susceptible to automation according to World Economic Forum.

Africa Rising Foundation was established in 2009 by Ndaba Mandela and his cousin Kweku Mandela. Their primary objective is to empower youth through economic mobility and to contribute to the economic development of the continent while promoting a positive image of Africa.
