Fuliza is a Safaricom form of micro-loan business solutions that enables Mpesa customers to pay for goods on loan through Lipa Na Mpesa and to settle the loan later. Fuliza is more like Lipa Na Mpesa’s Okoa Jahazi.Safaricom has partnered with KCB and the Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) to facilitate this service.
Fuliza lets people to get overdrafts as high as Sh. 50,000 depending on the value of their transactions and the interest rate on your overdraft is 0.5 per cent per day of the outstanding balance.
How to use Fuliza
The service will be offered on the application M-PESA Sim Toolkit (STK) and My Safaricom App.
To subscribe (opt-in) to this service, the customer must dial *234*0# and agree to the terms and conditions of Fuliza.
Fuliza is accessible for both Send Money and Lipa na M-PESA transactions.
FULIZA LOAN REPAYMENT
When you opt for a service, you give them the power to recover the overdraft plus fees from your M-PESA account. Safaricom will automatically deduct the amount due from the funds deposited or received in your MPESA wallet until the overdraft has been fully cleared.
You also need to maintain your M-PESA account on an average of at least 60 per cent of your overdraw limit over a period of 30 days.
The overdraft charges are a 1% access fee and a maintenance fee on the outstanding balance as set out in the table below.
