saadat aliyu

A Nigerian woman has created an app that will help orphans and underprivileged fight sexual abuse.

Finally there’s an app that can actually help protect the vulnerable and cause effective change. A new app that was invented by the founder of Shamrock Innovations who expressed her love for IT stated that she wanted to use her self-taught skills to create an app that would make a difference an app known as “Helpio App”.

Nigeria currently has a high rate of sexual abuse and to curb this Saadat Aliyu created Helpio App in 2020 which will work as a great tool to combat the high rate of rape cases in the country. The App is available on play store. It is also available in two languages, Hausa and English languages.

Who is using the app?

Many organizations have adopted the app and have encouraged their members to sign up. Among them includes – Initiative for Support of Victims of Sexual Abuse, Orphans and Less privilege (ISSOL), Equity Destitute, and Child Right and Welfare Initiative (EDCRAWI).

Why is this important?

We clearly need more apps that are solution driven and are not only used for monetary value but can be used to keep people safe and to keep the bad guys away.
