The manufacturer LG has just announced the launch of the LG Eclair soundbar (model QP5), its most compact model to date.

The soundbar was rewarded with the CES 2021 Innovation Award. Commercialization will begin in North America and continue in “other regions” of the world.

A solution for those who lack space

This soundbar is intended as a solution for the house’s small rooms due to its sleek and compact design, which perfectly finds its place in limited spaces while guaranteeing an immersive and quality sound.

It measures only 29.6 x 5.9 x 12.6 cm and comes in an oval, white or black design. It is, therefore, thinner than the Sonos Beam, a very popular compact connected soundbar.

The connector includes digital optical audio input and an HDMI 2.1 input and output port (HDCP 2.3) that supports the eARC standard. Finally, if you have an LG 2021 TV equipped with an Alpha 7 or 9 processor, the bar will take advantage of the “TV Sound Mode Share” system offering better digital sound processing.

Dolby Atmos or DTS:X compatible

This soundbar is certainly compact, but it is still compelling. A rather imposing wireless external subwoofer accompanies the LG Eclair. The set is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies.

It is a 3.1.2-channel sound system configured by the manufacturer Meridian Audio, integrating the latter’s Horizon technology. It allows you to mix conventional stereo tracks and deliver more immersive surround sound theoretically.

The bar can dispense 320 watts on the power side and generate a sound pressure level of 82 dB, while the subwoofer offers 220 watts and a maximum sound pressure level of 85 dB.

Finally, the LG Eclair is compatible with 4K video streaming with HDR, including Dolby Vision, Bluetooth 4.0 for streaming music from a smartphone, and LG AI Sound Pro technology. As a reminder, this adaptive system analyzes the content being played and automatically applies the best sound parameters, depending on the kind of content that the user likes.

LG has announced plans to begin delivering the Eclair soundbar as early as this month in North America, followed by “other regions in the rest of the world.” On the other hand, no prices or further specific details were mentioned for Europe, Africa and Kenya.
