Huawei launches a residential energy storage system

Huawei has launched Huawei FusionSolar Smart PV solution., an advanced power solution for commercial and residential customers based on the‘Optimal Electricity Cost and Active Safety’ concept. The system seeks to improve the utilization of solar power to power millions of residents and hundreds of industries globally.

The home energy storage system now available in Kenya was also unveiled in a number of western countries including Australia, Italy, Vietnam, Netherlands who are equipped with backup power boxes to keep your internet and household appliances on.

Many homeowners in Kenya are now considering the solar option  and turning their houses into power plants, the LUNA 2000 unveiled by Huawei FusionSolar is aimed at supplying enough energy for residential use in Kenya  in this unprecedented energy transition.

Energy and Petroleum Regulator Authority of Kenya recently reviewed electricity charges for consumers to pay an additional Sh817.6 million in power bills which will be used to compensate thermal power producers following a rise in the price of fuel.

Nearly 20 per cent of this bill, or Sh726, will go to compensate thermal power generators through the fuel energy charge, while Sh502.55 is Value Added Tax (VAT) and just Sh2,037.5 for the actual consumption.

LUNA 2000, the flagship product of Huawei FusionSolar Residential Smart PV Solution, is a residential energy storage system (ESS) for optimal electricity cost.

In addition to increasing the self-consumption rate of solar energy, it provides critical support during power outages or load shedding.

Huawei CEO Will Meng Said, “We pride ourselves for working towards reducing our carbon footprint and for accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries we operate in,”

He said that Luna 2000 is suitable for residential scenarios and an expound on FusionSolar Smart PV solutions for commercial and industrial scenarios.

Energy Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge who was the chief guest at the event said, “In the energy act 2019, renewable energy is one of the critical subjects devoted in the act and this product meets those requirements. I would like to thank Huawei for launching this product in Kenya. Not only will it increase the self-consumption rate of solar energy but also can provide critical support during power outages or load shedding.”
