The Bloggers Association of Kenya has announced BAKE Awards 2021. The launch also coincides with the competition’s submission phase.
In its ninth year, the annual blogging competition recognizes and awards outstanding bloggers in each category. The match was unfortunately postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and did not take place. The Bloggers Associate of Kenya is launching the 9th edition of the BAKE Awards.
This year’s BAKE Awards 2021 began on September 14, 2021, when the organization accepted submissions in various categories. Following that, judges will select the top five nominees from the submitted blogs, available for public voting. At the virtual Gala event, we will announce the winners in December.
This year’s schedule is as follows:
Phase of submissions – September 14 – October 20, 2021
The judging phase will take place between October 21 and November 1, 2021.
Online voting will be available from November 2 to December 10, 2021.
The Virtual Winners’ Gala will take place on December 17, 2021.
In 2019, B.A.K.E introduced a new category, Best Podcast, with Amani Maranga becoming the first winner. The total number of types is now 24.
JustJoykendi.com took home the overall Kenyan Blog of the Year award, followed by Lyraoko.com in the photography category, leotunapika.com in the food category, africancityplanner.com in the environmental category, and fashionablestepmum.com in the fashion and style category.
In 2019, the competition received over 10,000 blogs, with over 800,000 votes cast. Women dominated the awards, taking home 15 of the 23 categories.
Submissions are required in 23 categories, and each blog can only be submitted in one of them. There is one exception: new blogs (created after January 1, 2019) can be presented in the New Blog category and another category they fit. The rule that makes three-time (or more) award winners ineligible to compete remains in effect.
