What is D4D Hub and what do they do?
In a bid to harness the power of digital technologies for global progress, the European Union unveiled the Digital for Development Hub (D4D Hub), a pioneering platform with a mission to foster human-centric digital transformation worldwide.
The D4D Hub’s core activities revolve around facilitating dialogue among stakeholders, nurturing innovative digital initiatives, bolstering investment in digital development projects, and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices.
With a focus on cultivating an inclusive digital economy and embracing a multi-stakeholder approach, the initiative aims to ensure that the benefits of digital advancements are accessible to all.
Operating across regions including Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the EU Eastern Neighborhood, the D4D Hub serves as a nexus for collaboration between governments, businesses, civil societes.
From April 22nd to 25th, Nairobi hosted Connected Africa Summit (CAS) 2024, a pivotal gathering set that united African Heads of State, ICT Ministers, public and private sector leaders, academia, and global stakeholders in a collective pursuit of Africa’s digital advancement.
Organized by the Kenyan ICT Authority, CAS2024 served as a dynamic platform for comprehensive and inclusive dialogue, reflecting the diverse voices and perspectives shaping Africa’s digital landscape.
With a focus on fostering growth, connectivity, and innovation, the summit charted a transformative path for Africa’s digital future, yielding strategic outcomes with lasting impact.
Under the coordination of the Digital for Development Hub (D4D Hub), Team Europe stood at the forefront, spearheading a series of sessions in collaboration with Smart Africa.
During GirlsinICT Day, a global initiative dedicated to encouraging and empowering girls to explore careers and interests in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), D4D Hub led other stakeholders in reaffirming their commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the digital sphere.
During the final day of CAS24, participants proudly showed their support for the presence and active participation of Kenyan #GirlsInICT.
Recognizing the pivotal role that girls and women play in shaping the future of technology, efforts to encourage their involvement in ICT are gaining momentum.
