Nairobi’s Tech Ecosystem Gears Up for Climate Tech Revolution

The upcoming AfricArena Nairobi Summit: Africa Climate Tech Week, scheduled for September 3-4, is poised to ignite Kenya’s growth and capital raising drive.

This event, a precursor to the Africa Fintech Summit, will showcase the vibrant and promising tech ecosystem that Nairobi has become.

Over 20 of Africa’s top tech startups operating in the climate tech and green economy sectors will pitch their innovative ventures at the summit. Nairobi, renowned as Africa’s Silicon Savannah, provides the ideal platform for these startups to connect with investors and potential partners.

Christophe Viarnaud, CEO and founder of AfricArena, expressed enthusiasm for the summit’s return to Nairobi, emphasizing the power of collaboration in strengthening Africa’s tech, innovation, and investment ecosystem.

The Africa Climate Tech Week, supported by AWS Startup, Silicon Overdrive, and GIZ SAIS, will run from September 1-4, culminating in the AfricArena Nairobi Summit at Shamba Events.

Kenya, one of Africa’s leading tech hubs, has secured over 94% of all funding raised in East Africa in 2023.

The country’s strategic reforms and conducive business environment have attracted significant investment, with Kenyan startups raising nearly $800 million in 2023 alone.

This momentum has continued into 2024, with Kenyan startups raising over $200 million, accounting for 32% of all startup funding on the African continent.

The AfricArena Nairobi Summit will spotlight climate tech, renewable energy, and the green economy. Notable startups such as Aquarech, Gene Plus Global, RHEA Soil Health, and others will present their innovative solutions to investors.

Kytabu CEO Tonee Ndungu will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding the audience through East Africa’s successful capital raising story. The summit will feature over 30 speakers sharing their insights and observations on Africa’s tech, innovation, and investment ecosystem.

Keynote speakers include Joshua Romisher from Holocene and Joshua Murima from Briter Bridges. Moderators and panelists will discuss topics such as next-gen renewable energy, fintech sparks green finance, green tech funding, future farming, the circular economy revolution, and funding the future.
