In as much as internet connected thermostats aren’t a new idea, Google is working on a similar system, at least the software part of it.
It is currently a basic temperature control all that ha presets for when you are away from your home, or asleep. The automation and predictive features will be integrated at a later stage.
This app could be of big help and a money saver for many by simply setting up schedules of when temperature changes are needed for example heating up the house 5 minutes before wake up time would ensure you don’t wake up cold, or if you forget to switch off you heat, you can do it through your mobile app wherever you are.
No hardware is being made by Google for this app at the moment but there is a third party hardware that works optimally with it by the name Ecobee. This will make it even easier if you already have a smart thermostat.
