University of Lagos in partnership with MainOne Ltd has started a high internet access infrastructure and was commissioned on 1st February this year.
MainOne has so far succeed to becoming the preferred provider of bandwidth connectivity to leading tertiary institutions which include the University of Lagos, Pan African University, Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Redeemers University, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. This is in addition to pushing specific high speed solutions for notable industrial areas.
Unilag’s Acting Director/Chairman, Center for Information Technology and Systems, Professor Ike Mowete, appreciated MainOne’s intervention and observed that the solution would significantly extend the institution’s research and content delivery capabilities in terms of sharpening student’s research skills and broadens the horizon and scope of teaching, learning and research.
Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at MainOne, Folu Aderibigbe, provided a basis for championing such solutions as connectivity penetration for education communities.
“Nigerian tertiary institutions need to be strengthened and empowered, to assure global competitiveness. MainOne sees the need to assist the educational system meet its learning and research objectives, and provide a platform for experience exchange and problem solving within educational and research institutions all over the world,” he said.
