Nigeria’s online mall Konga.com has today announced it will open up its online marketplace to allow everyone sell online on its platform in a move the firm says will revolutionize Nigerian eCommerce for good.
In an email newsletter to all subscribers, Konga CEO Sim Shagaya wrote,
Today we are pleased to invite all Nigerian businesses – great or small, designer or farmer, producer or trader, sole proprietorship or limited liability – to sign up to this new platform – Konga Marketplace.
This new platform will revolutionise the way buyers and sellers interact, with a model that is more convenient for the seller and more attractive to the buyer.
We will be opening up in the next few weeks and we think you will be pleasantly surprised by what we have built.
The marketplace is not new, Konga build it about a year ago when it realized that for its services to be really valuable to society, it had to have a communal touch. Since then it had been testing it ever since. It says it had had to build a platform for anyone, not just Konga, to sell and prosper.
The Konga Marketplace will allow every entrepreneur and business in Nigeria and beyond, equal opportunity to reach millions of customers. It had a limited number of sellers who brought their inventory on the site but from now the platform will be open to everyone and not just a group of sellers.
