Online food ordering company foodpanda has announced its contribution to the aid effort in Serbia following devastating floods in the weekend past. Since the beginning of the week, foodpanda is delivering food to shelters, in cooperation with local vendors, to help those who have lost their homes or were evacuated from their neighborhoods.
This does not mean that foodpanda has not closed down its services, the online delivery service has continued work indefatigable and delivered food to all corners of the country, when necessary even on rubber boats. Ognjen Radić, country manager of foodpanda Serbia, has been on the front line of the rescue effort during one of Serbia’s worst natural disasters in a century. As a qualified diver, Radić spent several days working with rescuers in flooded parts of Belgrade to help thousands of residents who were affected.
‘’Ognjen acted courageously to help those affected during this unprecedented disaster,’’ said Ralf Wenzel, Global Managing Director of foodpanda. ‘’His actions are a reminder that we must assist those who are in need.’’
‘’The rescue effort has been phenomenal during this difficult time,’’ said Ognjen Radić, country manager of foodpanda Serbia. ‘’My team and I have been on the front line, and I am proud and fortunate to have the support of foodpanda/hellofood worldwide.’’
foodpanda is also calling for donations to be made to the national flood relief fund. To make a donation, visit http://www.foodpanda.rs/ and click on the ‘’Help Serbia’’ banner.
