Lack of Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) board members has delayed the response of parties involved in the intended sale of Yu Mobile due to the conditions set by the regulator for approval of the deal.

The cabinet secretary for the sector responsible for this Fred Matiang’i and the president as well are expected to present the names to the country even after nominees for CAK chairman position were presented to the president on May 9 by the special selection panel. The delay has gone beyond enough time set by the authority with none of the parties having responded to date.

The acquisition of YuMobile sale was left at conditional approval to the parties; Safaricom and Airtel before the board broke, now awaiting for clarification on queries that have developed concerning the 14 conditions given to the telecommunication companies.

All three parties however have no choice but wait for the board members to be established since it is a function of the CAK management.
