SA startups get ready for SeedStars World

The South African leg of SeedStars World (SSW),an exclusive startup competition in emerging markets, is scheduled for July 10, 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The competition invites high quality startups to take part in a 10-minute pitching derby (6 min pitch, 4 min Q&A) per startup. The winning startup will represent South Africa in the global competition. It also stands a chance to pitch at the global competition in Switzerland and to be ‘Seedstars World Best Startup’. Winning contestants will meet European investors, expand their business and connect with other great founders. The Final Winner will get an equity investment of up to US$500’000, while the regional winners will get other cool prizes.

Start ups meeting these conditions can apply

• Must be than two years old
• Have less than $500,000 in funding to date
• Minimum Viable Product (MVP) available
• The startup can be across any field, but must be for profit

According to the organisers, start-ups will qualify to participate in the competition if they are less than two years old, have less than $500,000 in funding to date, have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and and are for profit.

The event provides also free media coverage both locally and internationally and possibility of partnerships with suppliers, B2B customers, peer companies or potential acquirers.
