Global messaging app Whatsapp has announced that it has reached another landmark with its active user-base hitting 600 million this month. The milestone implies that Whatsapp got over 100 million new users in a span of four months.

WhatsApp users increases

The news, which was released by Jan Koum the CEO and co-founder of Whatsapp, was sent through his twitter page. He ensured that people understood he meant active users and not registered ones.

Four months ago, the instant messaging subscription service via the official Whatsapp blog jubilated for reaching an impressive half a billion active global users asserting that they were “merely getting started.”

“Failing to mention Facebook’s acquisition of Whatsapp, which took place on February 19, 2014, would not complete the milestone. The transaction is Facebook’s greatest acquisition to date,” stated Whatsapp’s Wikipedia page.
