Kisii county is set to put up incubation centre in line with its plans tohave information Communication Technology at the centre of its operations.
The Standard reports that this will make the sector relevant in service delivery and will also tap into the fast-growing mobile application ecosystem among the youth,
“This initiative will empower the youth,” he said.
The centre will be established in conjuction with the national government and local universities.
Despite Kenya being said to an IT hub in Africa, most of the incubation centres are centred around the capital city Nairobi. Only a few have made inroads into the counties where they is untapped talent.
