A blog post by bogger Eugee Kaana on his blog, the Murram Road has ignited a debate on twitter with a lot of disapointed cutsomers who have been patricipating in the various promotions by Safaricom learning that they could have been victims of various scams, and voicing their outrage , finally caching Chief Executive Officer Bob Colymore’s attention.
In his post, Kaana singleS out the #SafFunFriday online promotion that basically had disarranged letters and services from the Telco and that required competitors to recognise them and the first to name the woud win a phone. The writer alleges that the winners published on the safaricom Twitter handle were either newsono tweets for the win whiel the existing ones had not done much for the win leading him to theorize that the company had created a parody of accounts to swindle their customers of their hard earned money in sunnuy Jaunuary.
“These online winners are parody accounts created by Safaricom, so they make you use your resources to take part in these little games and in the end they get your money and they keep that prize money that you thought you were competing for. Bob I am disappointed in you, the only thing that can make me forgive you right now is you sponsoring me to shoot a video,” decried Kaana.
Among the dispaoited customers was @KenMureithi who tweeted: “I would want to know what @SafaricomLtd @Safaricom_Care and @bobcollymore got to say https://eugeneqaana.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/the-safcom-scams/ …”
Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore has finally responded to Mureithi saying, that they are know of the probem and currently dealing with it.
@bobcollymore tweeted: “@kenmureithi My team is carrying out a detailed investigation and I’ll comment thereafter. @safaricom_care @safaricomltd.”
If true then this could heavily taint the image of the Telco which has loyal customers participating in its various promotions each year.
