Tips on How to Save Safaricom Data Bundles.

We all have questions about our Safaricom data and wondered on where it goes and how it goes fast. In order to help you take control of your data, the telecommunication firm has launched the ‘SWIFT Squad.’

Below are the tips to manage and save your data:

To monitor your data usage on an Android device, see how much data you have used, follow the given steps, as given by the firm.

  1. Navigate to the Android settings menu select Network settings or Wireless and Networks
  2. select the option titled “Mobile data” or “Data usage”.
  3. Select the dates you want to review using “Data usage cycle”. Adjust the bars to determine mobile data consumption for specific days.
  4. Select the “Set Mobile Data Limit” box to get notifications from your phone when you exceed your set data usage.
  5. Scroll down to monitor each of your installed App’s data consumption.

When you want to watch YouTube videos in Standard quality instead of High Definition, you can save up to 60 percent data. In order to do this:

  1. Open YouTube and look for the little cog on the bottom right-hand side of the video time bar.
  2. Click on it for the pop-up menu then select Quality. You will have options for everything from 144P to 480P to choose from- but 480p is pretty good balance between clarity and data load.

To save your Snapchat data;

  1. Go to Snapchat Settings
  2. Open “Manage Additional Services”
  3. Select “Travel Mode”.

To stop WhatsApp groups from consuming your data;

  1. Go to the “settings” section in your WhatsApp
  2. Choose “Data and Storage Usage “Select Media Auto Download option
  3. Select When Using Mobile Data and switch it to “No Media”.

For Instagram, by doing the following, you can also save your data from quick consumption:

  1. Open Instagram options;
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select Cellular Data Use
  4. Tick Use Less Data

For Twitter: switch auto-play off so that you can select which videos your MBs are worth, by:

  1. Going to your Twitter Profile icon
  2. Click on Settings and Privacy
  3. Select Data Usage, 
  4. then set Video Auto play to Never.
