This is a basic guideline on how a few simple applications or browser extensions will prevent advertising and block tracking systems on your internet browser.
Blocking ads using ublock origin.
- Select on the link corresponding to the web browser. UBlock Origin is a multi-purpose blocker that can block advertisements, malware pages, and trackers.
To navigate to the download page for the web browser you are currently using, select one of the following links:
Chrome from Google, With Firefox, Edge from Microsoft, From the Opera
- Add your browser extension to your browser. For the web browser you are using, use the following instructions:
- Opera: Opera
Click the button in green that says
+ Add to Opera.
- Edge from Microsoft:
Click the button in the blue that says Get.
Press Click Open in Microsoft Store.
In the Microsoft Store window, press Get.
- Chrome by Google:
Click the blue button that says Add to chrome
Click Add Extension at the top of the screen in the pop-up.
- Firefox:
Click the button in the blue that says + Add to Firefox.
In the pop-up at the top of the page, click on Add.
- Tap the Origin icon for uBlock. It’s a symbol that resembles a coloured burgundy shield in the centre that says “uo”. It is in your web browser’s upper-right corner. The uBlock Root controls are displayed here. You can either allow ads and pop-ups for the current site on which you are, or disable all pop-ups for the current site on which you are. To allows pop-ups for the site you are on, click the Image titled Windowspower.png icon. Pop-ups and advertisements for the site you are currently visiting are allowed when the icon is grey
