At its conference Next@Acer 2021, Acer announced the hardware update of its concept creation laptops. In this case, the whole range goes, and that’s good news. On the menu: more power and an improved visual experience.
Acer is giving a boost to its concept range of laptops. Dedicated to creatives (3D designers, graphic designers, video editors, photographers) and professionals and small structures, it now benefits from the next generation components of Intel and NVIDIA and better screens. The NVIDIA Studio software ecosystem is finally (and fortunately) still relevant.
Heading for 16:10 for ConceptD 3 and ConceptD 5
Let’s start with the concept 5/5 Pro. The first now benefit from the new 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake H (45 W) processors combined with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ampere graphics card. At the same time, the Pro grind can count on professional NVIDIA GPUs (RTX A5000 or RTX A3000). As Acer states in its press release, the interest of the RTX A5000 chip is to enable 8K flow support with ray tracing.
Both versions of ConceptD 5 can otherwise count on a maximum of 64GB of DDR4 (3,200 MHz) and carry up to 2TB of SSD in RAID 0. As with its new Predator Triton 500 SE and Helios 500 gaming laptops, Acer is also betting on a high-flying display. You can enjoy a 16-inch 3K (3,072 x 1,920 pixel) slab in 16:10 format. This screen will be able to display the DCI-P3 color space in its entirety. A DeltaE less than 2, for an imperceptible difference between colors, and therefore excellent color fidelity, is also promised.
Concept 3 and 3 Pro are also updated. These more compact 14-inch models will also benefit from 11th-generation Intel Core processors (Core i7 at most), but this time coupled with an RTX 3050 Ti or an NVIDIA T1200 GPU, depending on the model chosen. On the screen side, Acer is content here with a 16:9 Full HD slab covering 100% of the sRGB spectrum, with a DeltaE less than two as a bonus.
Concept 3 will be available in Europe from September and at a starting price of 1,299 euros(KES 170,273). Concept 5 will arrive here in July, starting at 2,199 euros(288 176 KES).
concept 7 Ezel: an even more powerful convertible workstation
Expected in October from 2,699 euros(KES 352 276), the concept 7 Ezel also goes into a higher gear. There is a Core i7-11800H and an RTX 3080. For professional use, Acer also offers, as an option, an Intel Xeon W-11955M CPU coupled with an RTX A500 or A300 of your choice. The set will be accompanied by 32GB of RAM (DDR4) and a maximum of 2TB of SSD storage.
The device benefits from a Pantone-certified 4K slab. It covers 100% of the Adobe RGB gamut and benefits from a DeltaE of less than 2. There will also be two Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps) ports for data transfer and display.
