If you own a start-up, you spend all your time and energy keeping afloat and trying to grow. It can be exciting, challenging and exhilarating. In the first stages of growth, it’s possible that you do pretty much everything on your own or with a close-knit group of colleagues. There’s probably no money for external parties to help with the workload. But at some point, you’ll have to admit all the work is too much to handle yourselves. And maybe then it’s also time to admit that you can’t do everything – some things you might be great at, but there are bound to be things you kind of suck at. But don’t worry: if you give certain tasks to external people, it can lower your workload ánd make your company grow, because external professionals are really good at their job. Win-win! In our opinion, these are the external professionals you want to hire as a tech start-up.

A good recruiter

Whether or not a company thrives, has a lot to do with its personnel. You want to hire skilled professionals with a desire to make your company grow. But if you’ve never hired workers, it might be rough. What do you look for in an employee? What do you ask them? And let’s not forget that a hiring process can take up a lot of time – time you might not have. That’s why it can be a good idea to hire a (freelance) recruiter. Tell your recruiter the kind of professional you’re looking for and they’ll hunt for profiles of professionals that match your description. Often, recruiters can even help with the hiring process, if needed.

A marketing agency

Once the budget isn’t super tight anymore, it makes sense to hire a marketing agency. Marketing is such a fast-paced industry that you need someone that’s on top of everything – from SEO to social ads. Of course, everyone can put an ad on Facebook. But you might notice soon that you’re spending an awful lot of money, while generating the bare minimum of clicks. A marketing agency can give you a better ROAS and optimize your processes.

A debt collection agency

Who doesn’t love making money? But what if someone stops paying their bills? Or if you can’t reach one of your debtors and they owe you a significant amount of money? Then it’s time to partner up with a collection agency (Dutch: incassobureau). They can track down your debtors and give them notice that they have to pay. A collection agency can even send a bailiff to seize assets, think of cars, houses and bank accounts. In case all of that doesn’t work out, they can also help you take your case to appeal. Hiring a debt collection agency (Dutch: incassobureau inschakelen) is the easiest way to get your money back.
