For the 2021 HMS App Innovation Contest branded AppsUP, Huawei is seeking additional applications from developers across Africa. The Huawei AppsUP competition aims to encourage international developers to use Huawei Core’s open capabilities to create unique apps. The deadline to submit entries is September 5, 2021.
Prizes totaling approximately Ksh. 21.8 million (USD 200,000) are up for grabs for the competition winners.
Developers are urged to submit innovative apps to encourage joint innovation with global Application developers and to reconstruct the future of technology. The competition also intends to inspire developers to offer their smart living experience to Huawei end consumers in more than 170 countries and regions.
Zane Espin, a dual prize winner in the 2020 AppsUP contest, stated of this year’s competition, “It has been a passion of mine to bring my ideas and dreams to reality and make them interactive.” I appreciate the variety of abilities required to create games. Game development is a meta-art form. The challenge of needing to be both logical and creative appeals to me.”
His most recent App is Gauntlet, a game that won him the Best Game Award the previous year. Slug Hunter, his other winning game, got an Honourable Mention Award, which he attributes to his passion for science fiction.
“As soon as I started developing, I realized how much I liked it. He went on to say, “It became like an obsession driven by passion.”
